Our Team

To optimally address your office workplace, John has established an alliance with Marc Smith, a mechanical designer. With his comprehensive understanding of human biomechanics, inherent physiological weakness, and anatomical structural weaknesses, John may potentially identify methods via which office positioning mechanics may be reversed.

Combining John’s 25 yr experience with Marc's design expertise has resulted in the creation of a multipurpose design company emphasizing development of the ergonomically sound sit stand workstations. The result is equipment designed to afford as close to optimal working situations as possible.

A leader in the Physical Therapy field for 25 years, John leads an allied team of health care professionals. He has earned degrees in Kinesiology from the University of Waterloo and Physical Therapy from the University of Toronto.

In reference to work or office related symptoms, John believes “the catastrophe of the 21st century is the contemporary computerized office.” Philosophically, John’s vision is to address your sub-acute, acute or chronic injury either at his clinic or outside of his clinic. He realizes that optimal preventative intervention must consider both the internal systems of the body as well as the external influences upon the body, to which clients are daily exposed especially while working.

Marc Smith, CD

Marc is the designer of the original sit-stand workstation. After suffering a lumbar spine disc injury while playing tennis he was virtually immobilized for the next 3 months. After regaining his ability to stand Marc discovered that while he could walk 10 miles for exercise, his sitting tolerance was significantly reduced.

On the face of it, Marc's only alternative would have been a career change which did not demand sitting nor a sitting commute. So out of sheer necessity he designed a set of height-adjustable wooden plywood legs which could be attached to a slab-sided office desk. As well, he withdrew himself from a regular “sitting” style office and commenced contracting himself to work for different companies.

The innovation permitted him to convert the typical office desk into a variable height, standing workstation. With this simple application Marc has resumed working at a computer workstation, full-time.

The temporary fix has turned into a permanent way of working for Marc. He wouldn’t return to sitting after experiencing his own personal reduction of symptoms with the Sit-Stand workstation.
